To take advantage of the new sh404SEF feature allowing us to install the plugin through the Joomla installer like any other extension I have released jDownloads sh404SEF Extension 1.1.13a.

I marked this as an alpha release because of all the changes to both sh404SEF, jDownloads and to the entire structure of the jDownloads sh404SEF Extension. However, it is recommended to use this version if you are using jDownloads 1.8.x as older versions do not support the current jDownloads.

    • jDownloads sh404SEF Extension 1.1.13a
    • Can be installed through the Joomla installer as a Joomla plugin
    • Requires sh404SEF 2.2 or greater to install as a Joomla plugin
    • Tested with jDownloads v1.8.1 RC 2 Build 833 (latest)

Existing customers can download from the My Account area at the Shop. http://ty2u.com/shop

As you probably didn't notice (unless you did for some reason), the shop is missing. And I figured I should blog about it and let you know what happened, incase you are wondering for some perplexing reason.

After updating the shop site one time I decided to not spend anymore time on it. The problem was that it was running Drupal and every time I upgraded Drupal it would cause problems with modules and take up huge amounts of my time. I had a large amount of modules installed. It was a pretty nice setup actually but since I only had one product on it, which barely anyone bought anyway (thank you to the few people who did), I may as well release that product here as GPL when I get time to make sure it works in Joomla 1.7.

It was a jDownloads sh404SEF extension and it costed a whole $7. I believe it still works, but I don't use jDownloads anymore on here unfortunately. It is a really great app though. Good job Arno!

As you can see, I have a new download system. I created this myself from scratch and eventually, once it's running smoothly, I will release it open source under the GPL for everyone to enjoy. Currently it's simply not finished but it seems to work fairly decently to allow people to download things while giving them the option to pay. So far only one person has paid 1 Euro for a download. A great big thank you to that person! After fees I think I got a whole 89 cents Canadian or something, but I'm not complaining. That is sincerely a very kind gesture. These seem like tough times and I have a feeling they won't be getting any better for a little bit. But once they do they will be a lot better. And perhaps there will be different payment methods and different currencies.

This brings me to my next idea which I plan to implement into my new download extension. I hope to some day add the ability to support multiple payment processors, and multiple currencies, with perhaps an option to allow visitors to suggest new forms of payment (like cookies or sheep) which can be accepted or rejected by the admin. Something along those lines anyway. If you have any ideas feel free to let me know.

However, you will have to post in the forums or contact me since jComments has not been released for Joomla 1.7 yet and so my comment system is still missing on this site. But that is not a simple extension. I took a look and it seems fairly complex so hopefully they can get it released. Maybe it already is actually. I will have to take a look.

Peace, love and light to all!

This site has been up for 6 or 7 years now and in that time has gotten millions upon millions of visitors. I have been asked many times if there is a way for people to purchase ad space. I finally have installed an extension which allows you to advertise here. There are several ad zones to choose from. Click to advertise here. You can choose a monthly flat rate, a specific number of impressions, or even a number of clicks to your link. If you want to test the system out take a minute to sign up and get your 1 000 free impressions.

Hey there.  I just updated this site so you can now add your own news, downloads, and links.

I added a Directory to build up a listing of Joomla sites and so people can exchange links with me.  I have turned on the Featured Links feature of the directory which allows you to submit your link to appear on each page of this site in the top left corner under the Featured Links heading.  This is on a subscription basis for $5 a month.

Also, once you are registered you will see a My Account link on the top right which you can edit your account info under.  It also has some links to submit your content to this site.  This includes news and downloads.  Once you submit it I will review it and decide to publish it or not.  In the interest of keeping things organized and useful I may decide not to publish some items.  I really like Joomla templates so if you have anything to do with Joomla templates feel free to submit it.  But I generally will accept anything to do with Joomla as long as it's in a friendly tone and has been spell checked and looks neat and tidy.

Things are in a testing phase right now so you may run into errors. If you do find errors or have any comments or suggestions please report them to me in the forums or in a comment or by emailing me directly.

Also I added the ability to donate since people are occasionally asking me where they can donate to.  I think I had a link on here at one point but it got lost so this one seems pretty nice.  When I donate to people sometimes and it makes me feel good =)  If I get enough donations I will send it back into the Joomla community by donating to other people.

    Thank you!

Apologies to anyone who tried to sign up for an account in the past week or two since I have updated this site to Joomla 1.5. You would have gotten an error saying account activation failed. This issue has been resolved now. You should be able to create a new account now.

Thank you to Ideal for pointing it out, who happens to be offering some great looking Professional Joomla Templates and Drupal Themes over at http://www.veero.net/http://www.veero.net/.

    Thank You!

  • Free Joomla! Template The Path Less Travelled 3

I just released an update for the free Joomla! template I created back in 2005. Only back then it was still a Mambo template based heavily on Solar Flare by rhuk. Now it's a Joomla! 1.5 template and most of the code has changed. This time I have added a few new options to the template. There may be more added in the future.

Here is what the original graphics artist wrote about this Joomla template:

Let your visitors find tranquility with "The Path Less Traveled". The graphic banner features a country road that few may indeed travel. The cool blue shades of this template create a serene atmosphere.

You must save the Parameters before the template will work correctly. Then you can set it as your default Joomla template if you like.

You may wonder why I spelled "travelled" differently in the release of this template. That is because I'm used to spelling it with 2 L's because I live in Canada. However, the graphics artist lives in the USA so they originally spelled the name with only 1 L. Since I am the one who has to type it all the time I figured I should change it to what I am used to so I don't keep mis-typing it causing problems.

You can download this Joomla Template in the downloads section of this website.

Sorry it has taken so long to update all these to Joomla 1.5. Expect more free Joomla 1.5 templates soon!

  • Free Joomla! Template Updated - Vivacious 1.6

I just uploaded an update to one of my free Joomla templates named Vivacious 1.6. This update brings many changes, the biggest update to the template since it was originally released.

If you had tried version 1.5.1 of Vivacious you probably weren't able to install it due to some backward slashes in the XML file. Sorry about that. I am pretty sure I tested it but that was back when I still had windows so maybe it was ok with the backwards slashes. Well it won't happen again because I am running strictly on Linux OpenSuse now and will never go back. Speaking of which, if anyone can test this in IE and find any errors please let me know.

This template is for Joomla 1.5.

Here is a change log I tried to keep.

    v1.6 - 23 Feb 2010
    - Fixed XML file - slashes were backwards in paths so most would not have been able to install
    - removed com_contact and com_user from html folder and some other files
    - added blank index.html to css folder
    - set width for login module text fields
    - added param for alignment
    - alignment also contains a liquid option for liquid layout
    - many various CSS fixes
    - auto collapsing right column
    - replaced header image
    - added width param
    - added param to remove search box
    - W3C valid CSS and XHTML
    - probably some more stuff I forgot to add here

You can download the template in the downloads section.

    Enjoy ;)

I updated the Date and Time Module for Joomla to version 2.1.6.

2.1.5 was the wrong file, sorry to anyone who downloaded it. I uploaded it late at night when I was tired.

This version includes a fix for the spaces in the module params showing up as weird characters. They will still show up as those characters in the module params but will be converted to a space when displayed on the site.

I added support for multiple instances of the module so you can display the time in multiple places on the site, and each one can have a different time zone.

I also attempted to remove the PHP notices that show up but if you are seeing any PHP notices you should probably lower the error_reporting value in your php.ini file if you are on a live website and not a dev site.

Please report any bugs or errors you find either in the forum or by contacting me directly. Thank you =)
