Hello Ryan.

First I would like to thank you for all your hard work and help that you offer so many years now for mambo and joomla. Your tools have helped thousands of webmasters around the globe, including me .

I have a small website based on mambo and I would like to transfer it to joomla 1.5. The template uses your mysplitcssmenu file. Do you have a version of this file for joomla 1.5?

Thanks in advance
Peter

Hi Peter,

I haven't used that file much since I have discovered Extended Menu and learned how to use it. It can pretty much do anything for menus if you set it up properly. I figured it out by fiddling with the values in the module params. I think there are probably tutorials around for using nowadays that would help to bypass that stage of learning to use it. Maybe I should write one someday when I have time.

I am not really sure what would be involved in converting mysplitcssmenu to run in Joomla 1.5 but I am guessing it would require some rewriting of the code to match Joomla 1.5. I don't know if it would work in legacy mode or not.

Thank you very much for your answer Ryan. The reason that I want to use mysplitcssmenu is because I have a template which calls it through a php file, and I would like to have the same functionality under joomla 1.5. I am packaging the old template for a joomla 1.5 template release and I dont want to say to the webmasters to download and use a module in order to have such a nice menu. Is there any solution that can be implemented using a php file, and not a module?

Well it is possible to install a module through a php file if you do all the coding for it. Having a module allows for assigning it to specific pages. I suppose you could always code for that as well if you wanted to but why reinvent the wheel? If you just want the menu to appear on every page you may want to try rewriting the mysplitcssmenu file. There isn't really much to it.

Great congratulations Ryan, adapt this to joomla 1.5, but I have a problem, I can not use 'Menu Class Suffix', I would like a class or a different ID to each menu item. How can I do this? Please help me.

You can use module chrome to do this in Joomla 1.5.

What is module chrome?
